Gerrie Eijlers will leave Magdeburg in summer

Dutch goalkeeper Gerrie Eijlers will leave SC Magdeburg this summer. The club and the 33 year-old found a solution and terminated the contract, that would have ended in June 2015, one year earlier. Until now it is not sure, where the experienced Dutch is going to continue his career.

"With the newly signed Danish goalkeeper Jannick Green and Dario Quenstedt we have the new goalkeepers for the season 2014/15 and we informed Gerrie about our plans as early as possible. At his five years with the club Gerrie always made a good performance and helped the team with his skills," said the sporting director Steffen Stiebler. The former defensice specialist added: "After the announcement of this decision Gerrie was absolutely professional and with his saves he is one of the keys for the great performance of the whole team.

Stiebler added: "We are very thankful to Gerrie because of his performances and his loyalty. For us it was absolutely normal to support Gerrie in finding a new club for the upcoming years and we wish him all the best for the upcoming tasks. Furthermore we are sure that he will do everything that SC Magdeburg is successful until his contract ends."
