FC Volendam and PSV need points
Both Volendam and PSV Eindhoven need the points when they meet on Sunday but for very different reasons. Volendam are fighting to remain in the top flight while PSV continue to push leaders Ajax even though the title appears destined for Amsterdam. Indeed, if Ajax win at Zwolle and PSV fail to get the points at Volendam, the trophy will go the way of Ronald Koeman's side. PSV also have to make sure they hold onto second spot to qualify for the Champions League with Feyenoord breathing down their necks in third place. That has emerged as PSV's main objective with coach Guus Hiddink more or less resigned to the fact that Ajax will be this year's champions. "Normally Ajax take three points in the match against FC Zwolle and then they need only one point in the last two matches. "Only if FC Zwolle wins against Ajax will we have a little chance to come back in the race, but I do not believe in miracles." And the coach is warning his side not to be complacent against the Eredivisie's bottom club.
"For my team it will be difficult against Volendam. That team fights for their chances and stays dangerous. "Against NAC they won with 4-2 after being 2-0 down. "We must stay alert. We can not afford to lose any matches. We must win them all, so we can qualify for the Champions League." Volendam will be looking to continue with the form they displayed, despite losing 2-0, at Feyenoord.
"We must be very lucky to beat the bigger teams," Volendam manager Johan Steur said. "We can only beat teams like Feyenoord and PSV if we are very good and they have an off day." And Steur is aware of how tough the game will be but still believes his side are in with a chance. "They have a very strong squad and they score goals easily. We still see possibilities, but we need to win. We know that." The relegation strugglers have nearly a full squad available with the exception of strikers Eddy Putter, Oussain Ouhsaine and Reginald Faria, who will not feature. Leandro is unavailable for PSV as he has an ankle problem and Ji Sung Park will not play as he is away on international duty with South Korea for their game against China.
