Bristol Rovers new man Jordi van Stappershoef looking good in blue and white
Graham Coughlan has revealed new goalkeeper Jordi van Stappershoef has been a long term target for the club.
Van Stappershoef, 23, is a free agent having been released by his club FC Volendam who play in the Dutch second division, the Eerste Divisie, the same league as Rovers' pre-season opponents last season FC Eindhoven.
The deal for the 6ft 7in Dutchman will officially go through on July 1 and will be subject to EFL approval and the club receiving international clearance.
Van Stappershoef is Rovers' fourth signing of the summer following the additions of full-backs Josh Hare from National League side Eastleigh, Mark Little from Bolton Wanderers and centre-back Tom Davies from Coventry City as manager Graham Coughlan remoulds his squad for the new season.
Speaking to the official Bristol Rovers website, manager Coughlan said: “Jordi is player that we identified last season and we are glad that we’ve managed to get the deal over the line ahead of the start of pre-season."
"Our head of recruitment, Tommy Widdrington, has travelled to watch Jordi in action on a number of occasions and he's a player that we have done our homework on.
"It's another foundation in place for the new season and I would like to welcome Jordi to Bristol Rovers F.C."
